So, this is really, really great, I'll be honest, I'm a huge Resident Evil fan, and I was hugely disappointed when the series went all action and punching rocks in 5 and 6, but from what I've seen of Resident Evil 7 Biohazard, it looks amazing, and the kind of game I've always wanted from Resident Evil, I'm glad that it looks like you're going to be virtually helpless, you do have guns and melee weapons in the game, but from the trailer, the guns may not do much to the enemies, and I'm not sure about melee weapons yet.

But now onto the demo, the demo, known as Beginning Hour, is actually really great, its graphics are appealing, controls nicely, and it's like the PT demo, which I think was the idea, I will be honest though, Beginning Hour is missing the psychological element of PT which made PT all the more scarier, but that was for Silent Hill, and Silent Hill has always been based on psychological horror. But Beginning Hour does have its way of messing with you, you're in a dilapidated house in the demo, with only a flashlight, the atmosphere of the house is thick and foreboding, the floorboards creek with every footstep you take, which to me, makes it more scary, because it make you feel like you're being followed, especially because you're hearing footsteps, and objects being knocked over from the floor above. And there's a mysterious door that I spent two hours trying to open but I couldn't find anything to open it with in the house. The reason I was trying to open the door was because there was ominous voices from it, along with something hitting the door. So I was trying to open it with everything I could.
But I can bet it's unable to be opened as of right now. I did like the fakeout jumpscares too, such as a statue falling in front of you from a doorway in a hallway, or a doll falling from the ceiling, these jumpscares work really well for amplifying the atmosphere.
The demo does end with a jumpscare, but I can't hate on that because it reveals the new zombies they have in this game.
And I'll be honest, these guys are scarier than what's in Resident Evil 4 (not as scary as the chainsaw guy from the same game though), if you've seen Wrong Turn, Texas Chainsaw Massacre, or The Hills Have Eyes, it seems like this game is taking inspiration from those movies with the new zombies, these zombies aren't mindless brain eaters, they're more human, but they seem to have lost all sense of their humanity, and empathy, and they still retain the intellect of a human too, this makes them all the more scarier to me, because of obvious reasons, they can either choose to infect you, or kill you with any tool they want. These zombies are original, and terrifying, long story short, I'm hyped like no tomorrow for this game, a triple a company is finally releasing a true horror game since Alien Isolation, and not a shooter that arms you to the teeth with weapons, and makes you deal with mildly disturbing enemies.
I give this demo a 10/10 and a seal of approval.
